Focused on You
01 — individual Therapy
Too often our lives go at such a break-neck pace that we never stop to evaluate how well we are truly doing, whether or not who we are and the relationships we are in are flourishing or failing, or just being pushed along without thought or intentionality. Whether you want to explore yourself and your life or want to move deeper into past hurt, pain or trauma, Kindred Therapy offers you a place to stop, slow down and take time for yourself.
02 — couples therapy
Relationship can be hard since we usually seek out someone with very different attributes and character to ourselves. While this difference can bring a beautiful balance to our lives, it can also be difficult to navigate through all life’s ups and downs. Kindred therapy is here to help strengthen your bond, deepen your connection, identify your relational strengths, improve intimacy and friendship and help with conflict management. At Kindred Therapy, the most proven and researched methods of both Emotion Focused therapy and the Gottman Method are used to move your relationship to a place of deeper connection and strength.
03 — children and family therapy
Parenting has the potential to be the the most exciting and rewarding experience of our lives but it also comes with numerous pressures and challenges. Kindred therapy offers help to parents and families from an attachment based developmental perspective, moving parents toward greater understanding of themselves and their responses and helping them make sense of their children.
04 — sand tray therapy
Children (and adults) can often struggle to communicate, or be overwhelmed by, their thoughts and emotions. Sand tray therapy is an approach that seeks to best support each child (or adults) change from within, uncovering choices beyond their default ways of being and avoiding emotional flooding by slowing down how they express their internal world. Kindred Psychotherapy combines neuroscience and the Satir Model of therapy in the sand tray, which allows clients to express the underlying memories that have been previously inaccessible to conscious awareness. Children (or adults) are then able to express their internal world in the sand tray, find their strengths and discover new ways of being. This particular approach to sand tray therapy can produce deep transformative results more quickly than usual talk therapies and can even shift physical pain held within the body because it bypasses the parts of the brain that formulate our thoughts and feelings into cohesive and understandable sentences. What many children appreciate is the use of their imagination and creativity but also how they are allowed to set the pace. Sand tray can be effective for the treatment of trauma, neurodiverse clients and those struggling to find the words they need to accurately express themselves. While children can be drawn to sand-tray and the diverse figurines that go with it, this form of therapy is also advantageous for adults and families.
