How my journey began
I have wanted to be a psychotherapist since I was a teenager. It felt at the time that there was not adequate support available for young people and I remember thinking “who is helping us?” I recognised a desire to help my peers who were struggling, some with suicidal ideation, others with the stressors of figuring out their future, family issues, bullying or identity. Since then, I have used this passion in many different contexts and received a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, developing skills supported by research and neuroscience, to further my ability to adequately help others. Nineteen years of marriage and being mother to five children, has emphasised the fact that we are not always adequately prepared for life. Past issues with trauma, the needs of a family, job or relationship pressures, can sometimes leave us feeling that our best is never good enough. Life can feel like a great wrestling match, to even get out of bed and be with others can seem daunting and sometimes even just to be with ourselves, in our own bodies can be difficult. At times, we need help from others and that’s why I am here, to support you in the struggle and to help you find a way forward. You matter. Your story is important.
